This allows the WireMac Duo to punch anylength of document less than fourteen inches. Sheets that are longerthan 14" can still be punched. It just requires a two step process.Onthe right side of this machine there are two knobs for adjusting thedepth of the holes from the edge of your paper. The Wiremac Duo Combocan be set to punch the holes closer to the edge of the paper whenbinding thin documents and further from the edge when binding thickerbooks. This helps maximize the usability and strength of your bounddocuments.The WireMac-Duo also includes a heavy duty wireclosing device on the front of the machine. This wire closer is made ofhighly durable steel components and designed to maintain its accuracyafter thousands of binds. On the front of the wire closer there is alsoa set of wire hanging hooks that can be used to help hang your sheetsonto double loop wire spines.

If your binding mode doesn't match the typeof strip that you are trying to bind, it can cause all sorts of issueswith the quality of the bind. Each mode adjusts the amount of heat andthe length of time that is needed to bind a document. This article isdesigned to introduce you to the eight different modes offered by theFastback 9 binding machine. You can change the mode on your machine bysimply pressing the menu button repeatedly until the mode that you arelooking for appears on the LCD display.

1. Image Mode: This setting allows the user to bind a document withImage strips. The Image Strip lets you use strips that have your brandand identity information printed on them. The Image Mode is intendedfor use with Clear Covers, or foil-printed Comp Covers.

2. LX Mode: This is the standard setting for the Fastback 9 bindingmachine. It allows the user to bind a document with Lx Fastback bindingStrips. This mode is also used for binding the book block of documentsthat are going to be case bound using Powis Parker Fastback hard covercases or photobooks.

3. LX Composition Mode: This setting allows the user to bind a documentwith Lx-Comp strips. The eye-catching executive look of the Lx-Compstrip offers a high-end appearance, and is designed to match our Compcovers for your special presentations.

4. LX CP Mode: This setting allows the user to bind a documentwithLx-CP strips.If you are printing to a color laser printer that usesfuser oil, or you are using extremely smooth paper, the Lx CP Strip canprovide a stronger bind in these instances (not recommended for usewith glossy coated paper).Intended for use with the Fastback Hardcoverproducts, Comp Cover, and Clear Cover. Unfortunately, LX-CP strips arenot currently available from Powis Parker and according to sources fromthe manufacturer there is no estimated date for their production.

5. Halfback Mode: This setting allows the user to bind a document withHalfback covers. With Halfback covers, you can produce documents thatlook like they were perfect-bound. The covers come in solid colors andare pre-scored for easy and accurate results every time.

6. Perfectback LF Mode: This setting allows the user to bind a documentwith an Lx-Perfectback LF colorful stick ice cream machine strip. Perfectback LF strips produce awraparound cover spine that hinges freely from the bound spine of yourbook block. This strip is used for short run perfect binding.

7. Perfectback PS Mode: This setting allows the user to bind a documentwith Lx-Perfectback PS strips. Lx-Perfectback PS strips produce awraparound cover that bonds fully all around the spine of your bookblock. This strip is also used for short run perfect binding.

8.Edit Mode: The Edit Mode enables removal and insertion of pages in a document previously bound by the Fastback 9 binder.

These are the eight different modes that are offered by the Fastbackmodel 9 binding machine. In addition to these modes, there is also asettings mode that allows you to adjust the length of bind time foreither the cover or the spine. Again, all you need to do in order toaccess the settings menu is to press the menu button until "SETTINGS"appears on the LCD display.
